SBF 127:17 Rules for fire protection on construction vehicles, issue 2

Cover SBF 127:17 Rules for fire protection on construction vehicles

The regulatory framework governing fire protection requirements for construction vehicles, including forestry and construction machinery. Which machines should be sprinklered, how should a sprinkler system be designed, what other fire protection equipment is required?

The rules SBF 127:17 specify requirements for vehicles with internal combustion engines. The rules apply to the execution of electrical installations, fuel systems, hydraulic systems and extinguishing systems as well as other fire safety devices on the vehicle.

Increasingly high environmental requirements are imposed on today's work vehicles in terms of emissions and noise, which creates new challenges in fire protection work.

This means that engine compartments are becoming increasingly closed and the installed equipment such as silencers and particle filters have poorer cooling, which increases the risk of fire. These regulations have been drawn up to reduce the risk of fire and to make it possible to extinguish any fire that may occur.

Fully electrically powered vehicles without an internal combustion engine are not regulated in these regulations. The rules apply to the execution of electrical installation, fuel system, hydraulic system and extinguishing system and other fire safety devices on the vehicle.
