SBF 128 Guidelines for fixed automatic fire suppression systems on buses and coaches

Due to an increase in fires in buses and coaches the insurance companies have stipulated that buses and coaches registered after 2003 be equipped with a fixed fire suppression system, placed in the engine compartment.

Guidelines SBF 128 regulate the design and technical specifications of the systems and further states the requirements of the companies that supply and install them.

The guidelines stipulate that buses and coaches with a total weight of 10 tons or more, delivered after January 1 of 2004 be equipped with a fire suppression system in the engine compartment. This is a prerequisite for taking out fire insurance.

SBF 128:3, enters into effect on 1 January 2017 and then replaces SBF 128:2. SBF 128:2 may be applied to the end of 31 December 2017.
